I need to stop reading internet gaming forums; I fear as if I'm slowing growing more and more stupid by the minute. Every time I read a 'teh' or notice even the easiest words misspelled, I feel like I'm going to have a brain aneurysm. I also need to start reading this pile of books I have sitting on my table.

I got third in that previously stated contest; losing to somebody who made a copy/paste iso picture which isn't interesting at all; and a well known someone who made references to the community. Albeit, they were both well done for what they were; but this was definitely a vote for the more well known people. Not that I don't accept the prize.

My music list is starting to dwindle in terms of stuff I really care to listen to. Anyone wanna suggest some bands I should look into?

Tell me some things you are into other than what I already know (Pixies, Belle & Sebastian, Polyphonic Spree and Elvis Costello are ones I remember). I will see what kind've recommendations I can come up with.

I'd be interested in just about anything at the moment.

But for stuff I've been listening to recently; Winterpills, Built to Spill, Ditty Bops, M. Ward, Mark Mulcahy, Menomena. I guess Indie or Folk music is what I'm really looking for.

Also, Iggy Pop question, what would be the next best album after Raw Power?

As Iggy goes, if you mean after chronologically, I'd say Lust For Life. If you mean by ranking, the Stooges' Fun House. I'd recommend both.

You familiar with Nick Drake? He did some jazzy folk stuff back in the '70s. Mellowest stuff in the world. Bryter Layter's a good album of his.
Also, if you haven't heard them, I'd tell you to try Of Montreal's Hissing Fauna Are You The Destroyer?, Clap Your Hands Say Yeahs' Some Loud Thunder, and The Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of older punk, stuff like Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Johnny Thunders, Circle Jerks, The Buzzcocks. I guess it all came on when I realized I only had one Dead Kennedys album, but it's good stuff. Off the top of my head The Buzzcocks are the only band from the '70s London scene I really dig.

I just realized that "older punk" is a funny phrase coming from a guy that maintains that punk mostly died or changed into a completely different genre by the time the '90s came around.
