auditions
adam keeps calling them try outs.
just a few hours ago I tried out for the school production of 'Little Shop of Horrors'. i love acting nowadays, and i can't seem to find what i want to do anymore in art. i'm really going through a bunch of different phases: writing, drawing, computer art, photography, comics, and now i'm into acting; which is most choice for a dip into fun.
i took acting this year, and i can be quite the character when it comes to doing just random impressions of stupid stuff, so i'm loving it. we did this one game where we had to introduce ourselves in different emotions/characters. we had no real time to think anything up except for the few seconds in between each person's turn. i came out with super bad ass hero with a deep voice, and then ended with myself as i couldn't think of anything else after 4 other quick thoughts.
we've also been doing a few games of freeze, "Who's Line is it Anyways" style. two people are on stage with a setting and situation and just adlib it out. one particular situation was a grave robber finding an alive man inside a coffin (my idea), hilarity ensued big time. also, watching someone act out GTA on stage with no props is one of the funniest things i've ever seen.
anyways, back to the auditions. i think they went pretty well for myself, and i did really excellent (this is coming from not doing the other characters well) acting as Seymour. i've got that nerdy mouse talk down pretty well. i would've gone with a kind of Philbert (rml) voice, but i felt that would've been overdoing it. and oh man did it felt awesome getting praised by the best girl actor/singer in the school. she was pissed she'd never seen me earlier in acting.
i'm not so sure about my singing voice, however. especially with this cough (getting over this bad bad bad cold/other sickness), but looking at the other singers (one was way too quiet, and the other just kind of read it out loud) i may just have somewhat of a chance at a greater part. they did make me sing the most in different groups; then again that might just be trying to find a good place i can sound good in.
we find out who we are tomorrow or monday.. i really can't wait.
