Game Review: Indigo Prophecy
Indigo Prophecy
You play Lucas Kane, a normal guy who becomes possessed by some unknown power, and murders some random guy in a bathroom restaurant in a very ritualistic manner. The whole game, you try and figure out why you were chosen, and by who, which leads to the possibility of the end of the world. Also under your command are a pair of cops who investigate the murder and try to catch you. So throughout the game, you're both running from the cops, and trying to catch yourself.
The demo of this game immediately got me hooked. Sci-fi adventure game with a bunch of different ways to go about progressing the storyline. So of course I went and bought the game; the downside: those moments were way too spread out, and a lot of them were timed. The rest of the game was either movies, or 'simon says' mini-games. No joke, colored buttons and all.
The only thing that actually got me through this game was the very interesting storyline. Which, at points, was horribly confusing, and if you just happened to take the wrong turn, there were things you didn't learn. An example of this is the 'Cyborg' character. I had NO idea who the hell he was, or where he was from, all because I didn't have enough time to ask certain questions. Also confusing was how Lucas and Karla end up falling in love almost immediately after they meet. This love connection happens within a 24 hour time frame. They don't talk within those 24 hours, but they do have sex.
In the end, this would have been much better as a movie (as it basically was) than a game with a bunch of 'press this button' mini-games. If they ditched the mini-games, and made it a pure adventure game, then I wouldn't have thought about actually giving up so damn much.
Don't bother with this game.
